Hallo an alle DS 450 - Besitzer!
Step 1) Cut 4 300mm (30cm, 12 inches) pieces of the 75x5 flat bar.
Step 2) On one of the cut offs, mark the line you wish your footpegs to take.
Step 3) Drill all of your holes to make your foot-pegs teeth onto the template piece you marked above.
Step 4) Depending
on your equipment, you may be able to drill all of the remaining 3
foot-peg pieces. Therefore, based on the ability of your drill, clamp
your template to as many as you can drill through and drill the teeth
for the remaining pieces.
Step 5) Using
a cutting wheel on your angle grinder, slowly cut through the centre of
all of the teeth, this will leave you with your teeth.
Step 6) Cut the remaining shape to each of the pieces of the foot-pegs (Bottom etc).
Step 7) I
then lined up my stock peg to my new pegs to mark the wholes to bolt to
the frame. I drilled them on one and then clamped them to the remaining
to drill them.
Step 8 ) Based
on using heavy, 5mm thick, flat bar, the pegs were going to be pretty
strong. I cut a little end cap to join the end of the pegs together, and
a H shape out of the 50mm x 5mm flat bar for the underneath side of the
foot-pegs. This H shape allows nerf netting to beconnected to the pegs.
Step 9) Because
I had a spare set of hips laying around, it made it easy to construct
and weld the pegs together. You really need to have them bolted to the
hip in order for them to line up properly. Once they line up, weld them
together.
Step 10) Because I used mild steel, rust then becomes an issue. I sent mine to the local Zinc Coater, and he Hard Coated mine with Zinc.Once
they are Zinc Coated, they are ready to be put on your DS450. I will
get some more detailed photos of my Pegs in the coming weeks.
